We are used to present in many marriage ceremonies and if time permits we are observing different stages of marriage ceremony, but what are the directions of this marriage ceremony, how many knows this? A marriage procession (varghodo), an act of receiving bridegroom (pokhnu), varmala, a necklace – symbol of happy marriage life (mangalsutra), joining of hands in marriage ceremony (hastmelap), moving round the marriage platform (mangalfera), saptapadi, raaman divdo, maa matlu : How auspicious and positive emotions are there behind this symbols and ceremonies, that a very few people may be knowing. If you will know and understand this than enjoyment of marriage ceremony will be very much interesting. We try our level best to give you an easy explanation as under:
Love of Mother as Sea and Maa Matlu:
Joining of two body for the purpose of unity of mind and thought known as Marriage. Thought of two minds becomes one though the marriage. This type of love concentrate on mind and not the skin. Those who see and feel the internal beauty of mind can experience the soul. This is the true philosophy of marriage life.
Marriage procession (varghodo):
Imagination of faculty of perception of horse is behind the tradition of Varghoda. To have a control on faculty of perception, there requires Marriage Sanskar. Marriage life is a controlled life.
Act of receiving bridegroom (pokhnu) - Ravay:
There is a ravay in the things of pokhnu. To make life lovable from the extract of love by achieving the churning of marriage life as churning is done out of curd for ravay.Act of receiving bridegroom (pokhnu) - Taraak: Marriage life is as a spinning wheel. Husband and Wife are as two wheels to that. If this wheels are tighten and moving through the thread of love than from this spinning wheel we can achieve lovable cotton.
Act of receiving bridegroom (pokhnu) - Mushaal:
In the tradition of family please crush you sexual emotions and keep love never ending.
Act of receiving bridegroom (pokhnu) – Rath ni Dhunsari:
Life is like a chariot. To run chariot there requires two wheels as husband and wife. If you keep your chariot in temperament and discipline than you never feel the weight of the life.
After receiving bridegroom but before entering in the marriage spot bridegroom has to break the pair of cup of silicon. Bridegroom enters the marriage spot (mayro) for to eliminates the obstacles from becoming one heart.
Varmala:
Two bodies are joining in with never breaking love threads. Bride with the flower chain welcomes bridegroom and during the marriage ceremony cotton chain is being weared by bridegroom and bride in their neck. Through one chain two heart becomes one.
A necklace – symbol of happy marriage life (mangalsutra):
This tradition is very much famous in south India. In this bridegroom offers respectfully a necklace, which is symbol of happy marriage life and thereafter marriage ceremony starts. Mangalsutra is known as a symbol of unbroken marriage life and that’s why holder is always safe.
Joining of hands in marriage ceremony (hastmelap):
“Panigrahan” is a Sanskrit word which means joining of hands in marriage ceremony. So, method of Panigrahan and hastmelap is same. Joiners of hands also joins their hands. Process of hastmelap is main factor of the marriage ceremony because it joins the hearts of not only marrying couple but also the hearts of their family members. Until this process is completed there is a stringent principle by our saints that marrying couple will touch each other.
Moving round on the marriage platform (mangalfera):
In the above process, up to three round bride has to lead the pair and bridegroom follows her. This means that lady will have three votes and gentleman have only one vote in house hold matters. Follow the lady in religion and work. Step of lady is a Laxmi. If you give the money of your home she will expend it in right direction and will keep it safe also. In last four round bridegrooms is ahead of bride. This means that gentleman have to achieve the goal in religion and work through lady and in that if we put lady ahead than that will be our respect. Fourth hard work is Moksha, and that will be achieved through gentleman and because of this gentleman comes ahead of lady in fourth round. Sacrifice is required for achievingMokshaand sacrifice mean lady will leading in religion and work Before starting process of Mangalfera the bride and bridegroom will take oath with fire. Bridegroom tells bride “ I accept you for four work such as for a life, for home safety, for people and for religion”. After Mangalfera bridegroom and bride becomes husband and wife.
Saptapadi:
Through Saptapadi bride and bridegroom takes seven oaths. They go seven steps ahead and become friends of each other in addition to husband wife. On each step bridegroom give rights one by one to bride. He takes oath for half part of his bride in respect, foods, prosperity and health and he considers his wife a good friend, gives confirmation for obeying all those. All these oaths are taken in presence of god, fire, society and Brahmin. Gentleman encourages lady for development of family and home.
Manglashtak
On completion of marriage process mangalshtak singing starts. They wish successful marriage life through Satyam, Shivam and Sundaram with these eight factors. And they accept the importance of marriage life for the achievement of religion, work and Moksha. |
